Street Beets September 17th, 2011: Mystery Item 12 and is Fall already here?!?!?
Here are two pictures of the Mystery Item for this Market. It has a very unusual name. This is going to be a hard one unless you order seeds. It may take a visit to the Market to find out. Noone guessed the Mystery Item 11 posted on Facebook, it is still up for grabs! Happy guessing!

If your dog hasn't tried Pupcake Bakery treats, he/she hasn't lived! I observed as a multitude of drooling animals stood on their hinds legs for minutes at a time as they smelled their favorite treats. Pupcake uses all natural ingedients. Some treats have pork, chicken, peanut butter, even parmesan cheese for example. Pupcake Bakery has recently moved to the Smith Street side by the Cookie Lady.
Dee Kitsch, the Market Assistant Manager was having fun taking pictures of Market produce. She never thinks it looks quite good enough, but everyone I know compliments the photographs. I think they are better than magazines! Pictured above are heirloom tomatoes and sweet peppers. I was surprised to see purple ones out there, so I had to make a Fajita recipe to use some of these good looking beauties! Thank you to Heliotrope Organic Farm and Lincoln Gardens for providing excellent looking produce. Corn season is almost over so get it while you can. A few pumpkins have started showing up a Fishley Farms and Elliots. I can't believe it is getting so close to pumpkin carving time. Last year I forgot my camera at the office so I didn't get any picture of what we did for the website. This year I promise I will get some up. It feels like soup and stew season, I can't wait to get some carrots, potatoes, and colored cauliflower to make a beef stew with Hi Low Angus stew cubes. Yum! Hope to see you having a leisurely stroll at the Market, City Hall, 9:30 to 1:30 today.
