Wink Howland Passes Away...Sad Day for the Market
On Tuesday, October 25th at 3:30 pm Wink Howland passed away. He had been diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer 14 months ago. Wink was a Member of the RFM for 33 years selling Howland's Honey. He had excellent tech skills, great intelligence, enormous wisdom, and a solid work ethic. Many of you who are new Members owe your membership to Wink as for over 20 years he fought the 50 mile radius of Regina rule until it was changed in 2008. He was forward thinking, believing that a competition Market is better for customers and increases the quality of goods at the Market. He volunteered with his Church, the Sk. and Canadian Bee Keepers Associations, and on the Yorkton, Fort Qu'Appelle and RFM Boards in President, Treasurer, and Secretary positions. Behind the scenes he put in countless hours as Treasurer for the RFM, I would estimate 1200 hours over the term I worked with him. We owe him a debt of gratitude for his tireless efforts on behalf of the Membership and for the good of RFM. Many of us feel that the Market will never be the same without his easy manner and great humour. Wink, you will be so missed by our Members and Market customers!
